Two guidos and a hippie. Love it!

Well, they'd most likely be non-white Kenyans, Congolese people, Ugandians, or anywhere else Swahili is found in (especially since Simba is Swahili, whereas the prince himself is African royalty), but I see that you just wanted to match the color of their fur coats with a skin complexion for transformation recognizability.

Of course, contrary to the defenses below, black people don't need to be dark-skinned to be portrayed as black, either; there are plenty of light-skinned Africans. Many black people (urgh, this old term) in general are yellow-skinned, red-skinned, and so forth, therefore I really don't understand what the previous commentators are saying when they say, "they are no black lions, so Simba wouldn't be recognizable if he was black-skinned." You're confusing race with skin color. Yellow pigments? We have them.

Though I can also see that the noses in this picture clearly look more like their animal counterparts' than human noses, so it's obvious you weren't going for a racial landscape at all, but whatever looked closet to their animal figures.

I don't see anything racist about this pic, they all look amazing in your style and I especially love the clothes you gave them. Don't listen to all these brats, they think America is the whole world.

I don't see why people are complaining about their skin color, I mean, dark skinned people are very rarely seen in most animation, so why rip of the artist's blood sweat and tears that were put into the drawing, that very likely, took many hours to draw? I know, they're from Africa, but most animated depictions of other world countries that have darker skin tones show them as Caucasian rather than their original skin tone. I honestly don't see why it's racist just because they're from Africa, Blacks and Whites are the same save for their skin color, so why get into a racial discussion that is uneeded?

'", I mean, dark skinned people are very rarely seen in most animation, so why rip of the artist's blood sweat and tears that were put into the drawing,"  so basically u saying "since black people are so underrepresented in animated films it makes it okay to not represent them and their culture and use white skinned people instead"  yall r trash lmao

That is not at all what I was meaning to say. Then again I don't even remember writing that comment, so who knows, but that is not the intent what ever it was. Now, year and a half later-ish I would be far more careful of what I say and how I word things. This, was a case of poor wording.

I believe what I had meant at the time was more along the lines of; 'I get that there isn't a lot of dark skinned people in animation or art but yelling at the artist for a personal ascetic choice is not appropriate.' at least for the specific quote you pulled out. The rest of the comment can be summed up in just that one sentence.

After reading some of the comments on here, I would like to point somthing out...

soo just saying, The Artist kept with the original color pallet of the movie, so they appear to have lighter skin.

Disney in fact does the same exact thing, so I don't think there is really any right to complain about these fan interpretations. Really, she is only doing the exact same thing that the actual company does.
The best example of Disney
doing it is in "The Emperor's New Groove" when changed from Human to Animal, the characters retained the same/only slightly different coloration. (Example: Ezma Purple Skin tone= Purple/gray Kitty fur color.) Besides the characters in that movie are supposed to be Peruvian, and they appear Caucasian as well.
Why are these "offended" comments only ever on Fanart, and of the Lion King? What about the Historic inaccuracies in Pocahontas? (Like her age. She was 12 at the time of the first settlers) or the fact that Gray wolves were in "the Jungle Book" when it is set in India? there are a lot of actual errors in the movies, so why must we hate on the fans, and their drawings?

I think these are great, so..yeah..thats my Two cents.

Please don't bring up the Broadway Cast either...they are completely different productions, and have no bearing, other than the fact that they are the same story.
This is like saying all "Phantom of the Opera" Casts should be the same as the ones in the Movies. or that "The Lion King" Movie should include the scene where Scar 'comes onto' Nala. They took artistic License, based on the movie, honestly it has no bearing over any of it.

I was just kinda putting this out there for everyone to consider, it wasn't directed at anyone really. I saw that a lot of the comments were calling this piece Racist, and were actually offended, so I wanted to point out that Disney actually does the same thing, and that there are a bunch of errors in the actual movies. Just sticking to the color pallet of the movie when "Transforming" the characters is not a bad thing, and really it has nothing to do with race.

I agree. People often deliberately look for things that resemble other things... just so they can get pissed off and offended. It's quite ridiculous.

Exactly. It pretty ridicolous. Especially to get offended over things like brilliant art, why do "ofendinoids" have to ruin nice things?

Indeed, though they all also seem to have elements of various African cultures in their clothing. Simba's complexion seems particularly jarring against his costume.
